Holiday Inn
Adventure, activities and affordability
A swift 40 minute boat ride journeying across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean will bring you to the Holiday Inn Kandooma resort. As a family-fun resort this island has all the means and amenities to keep you entertained for weeks on end. With separate water sports and diving centre, it’s not just the little kids that will be having all the fun!
The island itself boasts 3 restaurants and a cocktail lounge, as well as a mix of both beach and over-water villas each with their own little luxurious touches. Sandy shores line the island offering all-round access to the water and complimentary snorkel equipment allows you to go off and explore the reefs in your own time.
Kandooma is home to a world renowned diving school where you can try diving for the first time or learn the skills to pass a certified divers course. River had his first ever diving lesson here, learning in the classroom and lagoon before heading to a 12 metre deep, 45-minute long dive seeing manta rays, sharks and turtles amongst other fish. It definitely is home to a magical underworld here.
We were fortunate enough to spend 4 days here, soaking up the sun and getting to experience all the island and activities had to offer. Our time here was topped off by a private island picnic experience. The remote island is located next to a private sandbank; it’s truly paradise. Whilst traveling to the island we came across dolphins, the most magical way to start the most magical day.
This island paradise is made for kids and big kids alike, with everything for an action-packed and/or idyllic island getaway, they really do offer everything you envisage in the Maldives and more. For those of you who dream of visiting the Maldives but worry about the expense this is the perfect island for you.
