Dear Diary. June '22
We ticked off a bucket list destination for River and I this month; The Faroe Islands. Somewhere we have dreamt of going and made a reality with you in tow. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine for our first 3 days and ticked off many iconic sights ; Múlafossa, Drangarnir, Vestmanna, Klaksvik, Torshavn. We also tied in the National Museum - A must! Plus it has an educational play area downstairs and the Aquarium which you loved.
Aside from Faroe, It’s been a busy month for River, having a Yoga retreat to film in Portugal and a lads trip to London to find his suit for our upcoming nuptials. I have been busy finalising all things wedding and finding mornings or afternoons to spend time with you. You’ve been an absolute superstar, entertaining yourself and playing with your cousins. Next month we will be heading to Spain for just over a month where you’ll get to see Mama and Daddy get married <3
Why do you travel with your baby, she’s not going to remember it?
We get asked this question daily so here is our answer.
We travel with her for so many other reasons than just to tick off countries we’ve seen with her.
It’s about the everyday moments as much as the memories.
We’re blessed with children all to ourselves for such a short period of time and we personally want to create a life where we can spend as much of those early years with her as possible.
The reason we are pursuing a life on our own terms, with our own business and with each other is to essentially be with Mila everyday.
We travel because we love too.
Because we want to expose her to a mix of cultures and people.
We want her to be confident, creative, playful and most importantly open minded.
To be inclusive and inquisitive.
We don’t travel just for the right to say ‘you’ve been there’ when she’s older but to be able to share in her development years, to be there when she asked questions of the world and to guide her when she feels unsure of the world.
To show her there is no one way of living, that it’s her life to live her way.
And ultimately to encourage her on to a path of acceptance, understanding and kindness.
Traveling with Mila is about so much more than visiting a place, for us it’s about moulding her future.
So when people ask why do you travel with her she won’t remember any of it, we simply say it’s about way more than just the memories.
