During our recent trip to London, we were invited to stay at Cuckooz. Thrilled at the opportunity to live like a local in one of their modest apartments, we were looking forward to indulging in home comforts with the luxury feel of a stylish B&B. Cuckooz has an array of apartments made for travelers, by travelers themselves it seemed, quite honestly, too good to be true.

Our Cuckooz nest was located in Hoxton, just one of their locations expanding across Aldgate East, Shoreditch, Mansion House and Kings Cross. Making the apartments ideal retreats for work trips, staycations or just time exploring somewhere new.

Both familiar with London, we felt immediately at home. Conveniently situated a stones throw from Hoxton’s overground station and built close by to a bus stop, the transport links couldn’t make exploring London more accessible.

Cuckooz pride themselves on providing a ‘true home from home’ with all the amenities of a boutique hotel. Home comforts such as a breakfast box, courtesy of Borough Box Hoxton, can be included with just a ‘click’. Allowing you to rest assured knowing you’ll arrive at your apartment with a ready stocked fridge, handy for that much needed after-work beer or lazy mid-morning brunch. Other essentials available include booking a late check out, hiring bikes, even an airport transfer can be arranged and it’s all at your fingertips – literally. Each apartment is kitted out with their own tablet concierge, thus allowing you to check-in, book amenities, explore the area you are in or perhaps book a truly unique experience whilst in London. From baking delicious treats with an afternoon tea expert, to taking in a gallery with an artist-curator, even taking in the sights of London through the eyes of an urban photographer, the list is ever expanding.

Whether you are familiar with the area you are staying in or not, using your in-house tablet you can get a thorough understanding of your surroundings by using the C-Z guide. Cuckooz have intuitively created a all encompassing guide to each location they reside in. They encourage a ‘Live local’ ethos and make this doable for their guests by listing seemingly everything that’s local. From Bakery’s to Barbers, Pub’s to Parks you’ll be living like a local in no time.

Each apartment houses a unique interior, designed to reflect the style and influence of the area. Our apartment in Hoxton was cleverly considered by Camille Walala, featuring a plethora of artwork by the talented East London artist. A graphic illusional space complete with monochrome lines, pastel hues and cooky furniture it just begs to be insta-grammed and ‘pinned’ to your ‘when I own a house’ board. A mesmerising decor that whilst striking and expressive, allows you to unwind and feel at home.

As if Cūckooz weren’t impressing us enough, their commitment to corporate responsibility is exemplary. Donating £2 of every night a guest is staying in there company to Refuge charity. Ensuring someone in need of refuge is catered for. Allowing you to rest in the knowledge that someone in need is provided with shelter and security.

Our weekend with Cuckooz was a delight. From relaxing in the personalised robes to finding new places to enjoy in a city we thought we knew. Cant wait to try the next one…
